A classic grilled cheese sandwich gets a Texas twist with Texan Heartland’s Candied Jalapeños. Sweet, spicy jalapeños layered with sharp cheddar create a gooey, crispy, flavor-packed sandwich that’s anything but ordinary. Perfect for lunch, game day snacks, or when you crave comfort food with a kick.
Ingredients
-
4 slices hearty sandwich bread (such as sourdough or Texas toast)
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
-
1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
-
2 tbsp Texan Heartland Texan Candy Candied Jalapeños, sliced or chopped
-
1 tsp Texan Candy syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
Directions
Prepare bread: Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
Assemble sandwiches: Place half the shredded cheese on two unbuttered sides of bread. Add Texan Heartland Candied Jalapeños and drizzle with syrup if desired. Top with remaining cheese and bread slices, buttered side facing out.
Grill sandwiches: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and crisp and cheese is melted.
Slice & serve: Cut in half and enjoy hot, with candied jalapeños on the side if desired.
Recipe Note
Pair this sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup — the sweetness of the candied jalapeños makes the combo even more irresistible.
